ouch. that's a lot of money for just and oil/filter and cabin filter change and a drain and refill brake fluid. i thought prices were high in the us, but you have us beat. 60 euro tax? that's 23% of the bill. wow. here in the us i could have changed my oil/filer myself, changed the cabin filter myself and drained the brake fluid and replaced it for maybe, $75 usd (66 euros). i realize not everyone has the time, place, or knowledge to do those things.

and that is so true as well. for me it's a no brainer to do it myself. been burned too many times by incompetent service departments. case in point, had a 2010 camry that i took to get brakes replaced. 20 miles from my home. they did the 'complementary' gazillion point inspection. for whatever reason they took the oil fill cap off (why? i was not low on oil) and never put it back on. drove home to the smell of burning oil. that sucker sprayed oil all over my engine compartment and insulation on the hood, not to mention the fact that my garage floor was covered in dripping oil. i made them send a tow truck to my home to tow it back to them to clean up their mess and they had to pay someone to clean my garage floor as well. since then, i never let any service department do anything more than what i asked of them. i know it's an oddity, but still, if i had done the brakes myself, i wouldn't have been through the hassel and if i did make a mistake i could easily blame myself.

It's still under warranty, so I must go to the official dealer if I want to keep the warranty. It would be considerably cheaper if I did it independently or in someone's backyard.

VAT tax is actually 25%, I rounded up the numbers a little bit. That's pretty standard for the EU. VAT ranges go from 19 to 27%. We are just on the wrong side of it :)

Labor is more than just draining the oil. They do a full checkup of the car. It's still expensive, but just saying.

:D

I changed dealers; I went to yours this time.

I asked them what's with X engines and sparkplugs, but couldn't get a clear-cut answer. However, they told me to remind them in future services that the spark plugs were changed at 24k, so they would not touch them.

Honestly, I was pretty happy about everything, except for the price, but there is not much you can do about that unless you go independent.

I'm glad to hear you were happy with the service. I'm going to have my service in about three weeks, will report back on the price.

Had the 4th annual service today, 283 euros (oil and filter, brake fluid, cabin filter). All good, as usual, I was only surprised when they said that the service would take about 3 hours, when before it was always around 1.5 hours. I said I can't be there that long as I had always had a service time much shorter than that so I was counting on that timeline for other obligations and asked if I can come back another day when it would take less time. They then said if I don't want to wait for the car to be washed afterwards, they can accelerate everything and I'd get it in 1.5 hours, so that was great. I didn't even press the issue, I just said I was counting on faster time for the service and offered to come back another day and they sorted it quickly, less than 1.5 hours.

I leave the car and just UBER out of there and back, so I don't know how long it takes them.

They apologized for not washing mine. I think it's nice that they do that, as long as it's washed by hand, and not in the automatic car wash. I must remember to mention that on the next service.
