Our batteries are Group 47 H5 (LxWxH: 9.5 x 7 x 7.5 inches). Google that group size and you'll find a number of choices available. I too like AGM batteries and will change to one when it comes time, but I'd do what you mentioned and warranty the OEM battery at the dealership as that wouldn't cost anything. The CX30 OEM battery appears to be woefully inadequate. I can’t even keep a charge overnight and it’s a 1 year old 2022 cx-30 tpp. Looked online and can’t even find a battery to replace it with. Autozone and Napa no luck. Anyone know where I can find a premium AGM battery to replace this thing with?

Don’t leave us hanging here, what’s the overnight reading this morning?I do run with an Escort Redline 360c, but I never leave it plugged in. Nothing else plugged in and no other accessories. Plus I always have the key fob in a faraday cage so there‘s no communication or polling. Should be back up to 12v this evening and I won’t be driving the car anywhere. So I’l, see what happens overnight. However, now that you mention it, although no accessories are plugged in to the usb cables, the thingy you plug into the cigarette lighter does stay plugged in. Don’t immediately understand how that could drain power since the accessories are not plugged in, but who knows. Maybe I’ll just pull that out. Maybe the computer senses something is plugged in and keeps some internal process alive.
Disconnected everything, but after fully charging yesterday, I am back down to 9.47 volts this morning. So not the alternator. And I unplugged absolutely everything. So the battery is not able to keep up with the parasitics, even overnight. I am going to warranty the battery and try to get them to let me upgrade and I’ll pay the difference in price.I'd worry about parasitic battery drains, less than 1 day after only a year is really suspicious. The OEM Panasonic battery on my last Mazda lasted for the entire time I owned the car, 8 years.
9.47v ! I found an AGM replacement at Autozone. 680 CCA vs the OEM 530 CCA conventional lead-acid. Unfortunately I’d have to actually pay for it vs the free replacement at the dealer. As someone else mentioned, maybe they can credit me $100 for the stock battery they are going to use. Then I’ll effectively get the AGM upgrade for $130 or so. I want the power!Don’t leave us hanging here, what’s the overnight reading this morning?
Stuck at home sick here, you are one source for breaking my boredom.🤣
I wish you luck on getting that credit on the battery. Perhaps they would when you return the defective one honor it on your account for future parts or service.Disconnected everything, but after fully charging yesterday, I am back down to 9.47 volts this morning. Worst case they can put another OEM in for free, then when I get home I’ll go over to Autozone and replace the OEM with an AGM and keep the OEM for my garage. I can use it for general utility around the house or even stick it in my Camry if I need to.I wish you luck on getting that credit on the battery. Appreciate the update.👍
Looks similar to mine, and has similar 520 cca capacity. Most people seem to be fine, but the incidence of battery issues is much higher than the norm for our cx30s. Hey, no car is perfect. Cx-30 is close for my needs. I love the damned thing!this is what my battery looks like, for which I've never had a problem - so far!

Sorry if I missed this answer but. Why is the dealer not helping you as that is an obvious warranty issue? The CX30 OEM battery appears to be woefully inadequate. The dealer is fine. They will warranty the battery, but they’re just going to put in another 520 CCA battery. I want one of the better 680 CCA batteries that use AGM technology. So I’ll take it in, get my free battery during the scheduled oil change, and replace it at my expense with a better one later. I can always use the battery for something around the shop or stick it in another car.Sorry if I missed this answer but. Why is the dealer not helping you as that is an obvious warranty issue?
I think this may be more of a thing at the higher trim levels. More accessories, more parasitic drain. I have the Turbo Premium Plus, and even at the very beginning, engine turnover seemed a tad labored. But like you said, love everything else and this issue is minor and correctable. Our 2021 Premium was delivered 12/29/2021 after lengthy wait. Battery died in September 2022. Only issue so far. Love the car!
Yes agreed. A 680 cca AGM is on the requisition order. My wifes cx5 had battery death at <3yrs. The headlights coming on and staying on while the motor is off is not helpful. I shut my cx30 off, but hers i leave on for safety. There are better batteries available with more cca.
That’s where I am, 10K. In the olden days I’d stick a truck battery in there and that would be that. But space is so limited under the hood these days and the CX30 has this plastic sleeve that only the exact size battery can slot into.I had to get mine replaced under warranty at my 10k mile maintenance too.
