I bought aftermarket rails off eBay, the instructions say to snip this piece with pliers. Has anyone else had to do this? Normal operating procedure?

I just don’t want to snip anything I don’t have to…

Someone told me they had to snip them for oem, so I just went ahead and snipped. It’s just attached by sticky foam, so it’s also possible to just rip them off, but I think they are only necessary for the plastic strips, not for oem rails.

OEM doesn't use those, at least the North American models. Mine doesn't even have them at all when I went to replace my silver rails with black ones.
