Engine seems to be on even after the car is turned off. Cooling fan question.

Anyone experience a situation where the engine sounds like it’s still on, even though the car itself is turned off?

EDIT: So after a bit of research, it seems to be a cooling fan or radiator fan - and Mazdas have a history of these fans turning on after the car is turned off to help cool the engine compartment. What nobody can agree on is whether this is normal.

Not here, sorry no help from me...
I have had Hondas that did that as well. Everything is working normally. There is nothing to be concerned about.

The added info in your edit makes all the difference. I can't confirm mine does it as I haven't experienced it, yet. I have had some cars that would run the cooling fan after shut down and others that didn't. I suspect it is completely normal.
My '84 VW Scirocco did that all the time but I haven't experienced it with the CX-30. But under the pandemic, I haven't driven it far or hard.
I had this happen for the first time since getting my CX30 last week after being stuck in traffic (in the Florida heat). When I got home and exited I thought I forgot to turn the car off. I figured it was some kind of cooling fan.
I have had my car for over 1 year and never heard the fan stay on until today. I thought that I forgot to turn the car off. Very strange that today was the first time but it was very hot today in Hawaii.

My gti did this all the time. It was to circulate coolant for the turbo so it did not “bake” after shut down. For our cx30 with no turbo, i am not certain the reason for the fan activity.

I know this post is old, but I’ve had my Mazda CX-30 for almost a year now. Purchased it in April 2021. Had no weird engine sounds until about two months ago. It is winter here in MN and my car is not needing to be cooled down. I find the explanation not fitting my situation. Why on really cold days, cool days and one day in the 50’s does this need to run every time I shut off my car? It does it after long drives and really short drives (.3 miles). Sometimes it runs for 3-5 min and other times it turns off when my headlights turn off.
The LED headlight fans stay on for a period of time after shutdown. That's one thing I know. As for the cooling fan, I've never run it hard enough yet to have the fan stay on after shutdown.

I also live in MN and my car started staying on for awhile after shutting down in EVERY kind of weather. It does shut off if I lock it. I've also noticed the 'after-run' has gotten louder since last winter.
I've never had a car that did this! I had a CX-9 before this and it never kept running after shutting it off.
Turbos? I don’t know enough about the turbo Mazda yet but is the delayed shutdown happening on the turbo models?
The number 1 reason for this malfunction is the low coolant level, try to search for possible coolant leaks. Also, try to search YOUCANIC on Google, they might help you with car repairs.
