I know Sweden has it and it even replaced the G122 over there, both for CX30 and M3. We in Holland are not getting it (yet?). The upgrade to the X is relatively cheap here as that X is a lot less taxed because of lower emission.

Not likely to be offered at some point by Mazda themselves. The only difference between the G122 and G150 seems to be that the rev limitations at 4000 RPM for the G122 has been capped at 5500 RPM or so in the motor management for the G150. On a German forum somebody has claimed he had his one tuned to 165hp but has not given any further details. I am sure somebody will be offering it at some point, just like with the Mazda3 G120 which was a capped G165.

BTW in a Dutch magazine it was stated they measured 139 on the dynamo meter for the G122.

In Portugal, according to the Mazda representative, it is extremely unlikely that there will be such an update. But if there is in Germany, well, we will open an unnecessary conflict, even if the car has been presented in Germany, I don't think it is possible to do this update in any country. Now after the warranty is over, they will probably make an exception, because there will be other options outside the Mazda world.

Darkrider, to be clear it's not an update package for the G122. It's a different model in the range Mazda is selling in some countries. It happens to be the same engine but with higher output because of different engine software. Like many (German) car brands are doing.

Okay. So the car that you're commercializing in Germany, it's also being commercialized in Portugal. But the software upgrade on an atmospheric engine won't make much difference compared to a turbocharged engine. So there's no point in wasting time on upgrades on this type of engine.

There isn't much you can do with horsepower on non-turbo engines, yes. So in Germany the 150hp version is 1000 Euro more than the 122hp. Torque is even the same. That is easy money for Mazda with just another ECU chip ;-) . For the Mazda3 BM I have seen 3rd party suppliers going from 120hp to 180hp with the "old" G-engine for less. But almost no gain in torque, so only deleting the rpm limiting basically. Give it time and you will get see the same for the current G-engine, I am sure.

Hi all,

I got the information from a colleague that a ECU reprogramming company can upgrade to 150 horsepower. Anyone here who has already done this reprogramming, and what are the differences in the car's reaction?
