CX-30 Premium with less than 250 miles has failed to start twice. The first time, the dealer replaced the computer module. Yesterday, the exact problem happened again. Luckily, I was at home or office both times, and a short tow from the dealer. I have had a reliable CX-5 for 7 years, so this problem is not expected.

Our cx30 has failed to start 8 times. Turns out you cant leave the keys within 5 meters of the car which is a problem for us as the car is parked inside the house garage. If we forget to take the keys to the furthest point in the house away from the car it goes flat. We also have a Mazda 6 and we have never had an issue with that. Hopefully it will be recalled at some point!

Alex,
From what I understand, the fob and the car are constantly talking back and forth to each other. Try putting your key/fob in a Faraday cage (or a small all-metal box). That tells the car the fob is not close and it stops trying to reach it. Hope that helps...

I have switched my spare key off and lock my car in garage , I believe by locking the car the fob won’t be continuously trying to connect with car but I could be wrong

Just to clarify, does failure to start mean nothing happened when you pushed the button or did it turn over but not fire? I came out in the morning, was able to get in the car but got messages to Put my foot on the Brake when it was already there. I assumed the battery was dead and was probably related to my already crashed audio system.

The dealer did tow it back to the shop, charged the battery and put it through a Global System Reboot. Audio is back up and so far/ so good. I was told that Mazda believed the car was attempting to turn something on and would wear down the battery. Looking for the fob sounds like a reasonable explanation but in my case, there's more than 5 meters between the two.

I'm also suspicious of Pandora as I made the mistake of plugging the USB in to charge the phone while it was searching for Pandora via Bluetooth. It got very confused and might have been a contributing factor.

Open the Pod Bay door, Hal.

Interesting. One of our fobs is about 15 feet away from the CX-30 with a wall in between and the other is about another 15 feet from that with no battery issues over a couple of months.

Tried to start my car this morning got the put foot on brake message and got a lot of clicking and beeping, Called out Mazda Assist, was advised the battery was down to 8v, he recharged and done various other checks then advised to take to dealers as there is a known fault on some cars with battery discharging
I've booked in for first service and to check on the electrics, I've also asked for a firmware update and the petrol flap fix, was told there is a number of recalls on my vehicle as well

Key fob is kept in faraday cage at least 30ft from car

Low battery alarm needs fixing now. It has to come from Corp, the dealer can't do any thing about it. Its crazy. Try this, open any door and close it. Wait 30 minutes and open the driver's door and you will get a Loud Alarm and the dash is flashing low battery risk. There is no low battery. This whole function is unnecessary. How did they come up with great idea???

Cx-30 with 16000 km on odo.
Refused to start in the morning. Borrowed another car and went for moose hunting.
Message on dash: Pushbutton failure. Check car.
Mazda Assistance sent towtruck.
Towtrucker called me and asked: If the car starts and behaves normally, do you want me to tow it to shop anyhow? My answer No, if so, leave it.
He called 30 min later, told me he found no faults, car starting a nd running Ok.
Told me that no-starting is in his experience is not uncmmon in new cars, did not specify mark or model. ( Mazda is not a very common car in Sweden)
My car have been behaving ok now, for 4 days.
Will contact dealer upon returning from hunting trip.

Anybody else with similar experience?

just a battery voltage setting in the software... a radio and brief doors open should not kill any battery

Sorry, did not think of that. The theory that a moose put a spell on the car is at least as probable as the explanation that of a glitch in the car computer software, both equal to: A higher power intervened in a nefarious way.
Rydahs theory. is supported by the fact that the moose hunting came to zero.

CHECK THE cigarette lighter...if anything plugged in remove it. The lighter stays live when car is turned off! The gadget plugged in drains the battery!!
