This happened two times. After putting the car in drive and starting off, I felt a strong vibration that felt like a brake pad or something was grabbing. Parking brake was off. I tried to replicate it after but it only occurred after the car sat for a few hours each time. Time will tell....

I'll try again tomorrow. No codes were set off.

4,300 miles.

I have a feeling the parking brake didn't fully disengage. If it was the trans, I would think it would drive weird while driving normally. This only occurred 2x and it was right after I started to accelerate then it went away. Never happened again while driving.

Interesting I just had something similar happen with mine unrelated to CD. Dunno what it is. I was using auto hold feature, so I wonder if it's related to the e-brake

I have experienced similar in this car and my previous CX5 where I pressed the park button to release parking brake and then tried to drive off too soon. As in button then pedal almost straight after. I put it down to the electric brake needing a moment to fully disengage. Now I give it a second before hitting the gas and it doesn’t happen.

Could this be your issue?

It keeps the breaks applied. If it used the parking brake it... you would hear it engage every time you stoped. The light would also come on the dash.

If you look at the brake master cylinder you will see how it functions.
By applying the brakes (rather than using the parking brake) to hold you it also lights up the brake lights in back, which you want so folks behind you know you're stopped.
