Been going back and forth between CX 30 and Mazda 3 hatch ever since I heard about the 30. Just recently drove the 30 and I am leaning strongly that way.
Currently own a 2017 CX 5 GT that has my wife as a primary driver. I like something a bit smaller and more athletic I always loved the little cx 3 but could not get over the nvh and lack of power. Wound up buying a Golf that was better in every way but looks. Yeah I know, look out for problems. I certainly want to ditch it before the warranty runs out. So here I am.

Thanks for asking man. Went out and drove both today. Love em both, but have decided not that the 3 was best, just best for me. I already have a cx5 for practical reasons, so I can go sporty with the3 hatch. For a do everything Swiss Army knife of a car, I would go with the 30. The 30 gives up little in fun to drive. It was so close for me that if the 30 had that brilliant red/black interior option I would have gone with it. Still have not closed the deal yet, just reached the decision.

I meant to mention, also drove a Cooper s and a turbo Kona today. That did the last bit of convincing I needed to go Mazda.
The mini is essentially a slightly high snug sports car and great fun but the Mazda is quieter and more refined if a bit slower. It rode much better than I expected from the reviews. Deal killers for Mini are price and reliability. The Kona has a nice strong turbo motor and good packaging along with decent handling, but noise levels and interior quality are woeful compared to the Mazdas.

That's a very fair assessment, appreciate the feedback. Is it fair to say that if you didn't have the CX-5 already you'd go for the CX-30?

Right Steve, I've driven both and you are making a huge leap forward. Congrats. What's the trim , color and purchase price?
