Just purchased the CX-30 GS-L AWD. It's a beaut and I love driving it.
Looking into winter tires. Is 17-inch safe?
Toyo GSI-6, 17 inches is what I'm looking at.

Mine is the same, except for it being the red. (By 'L' I assume the luxury package?)

I just purchased the 17" tire package from my local Mazda dealer. $1,100 for the set, Uniroyal Tiger Paw Ice and Snow 3 tires (not the best, but decent).

The 17" is supposed to be better than 18" in snow, and 17" will clear the brake callipers.

Of course, if you are buying from other than Mazda dealer, make sure the other specs are okay... offset, width etc.

The red looks awesome. My two favourite colours for this particular vehicle are sonic silver and that gorgeous Mazda red. I went in to buy a CX-5, actually, but didn’t love it and decided to test drive the CX-30. Love at first drive.

To answer your question, the salesperson referred to it as the GS-L (for luxury package) to a coworker of his, not sure if this is Canada specific or not.

I did some more research and yes 17 inches is safe and the dealership is selling them to me. When they emailed me about he said ‘but be aware they’re only 17 inches’ I wasn’t sure how to take that. But after more research and your comment I’m in!

I stepped down to 16" Alloy Wheels and 215/65R16 Blizzak WS90 snow tires for my 2020 CX-30 GT. The wheels clear the brake calipers just fine and the extra depth of the tire sidewalls provide greater 'clearance' for those pesky potholes.
Quattrotires.com offer great prices on tire and wheel combo's (instead of just buying steel wheels). I'll post some photos when I get a chance.

What year Mazda3? Because the 1st Gen (2009 and older) had an offset of 52.5, 2nd Gen (2010 - 2013) offset of 50.0, 3rd Gen (2013 - 2019) offset of 50.0 and the 4th Gen (2019 - 2021) have the same offset as the CX-30 of 45.0.
You should be good with all the Mazda3 wheels except possibly the 1st Gen set of wheels (2009 and older).

Here are a couple of photos of the 16" winter wheels with Blizzaks and the original 18" OEM wheels. The rolling diameter is practically the same.
