A new owner of CX-30 Select in the US/New England currently at 1000 mi.
I hear a hum/buzz along with the engine noise when the engine reaches around 2000 rpm, but it happens only when I press the gas pedal.
I hear this noise while driving and even while standing still in neutral. Since I hear this noise while in neutral and still, I think I can discount any transmission or wheel-bearing/tire issue. Based on other threads on the internet, I am thinking of this noise emanating from the alternator or fuel pump.
My less anxious self is eager to discount the noise as a nothingburger, or just as a peculiarity. But my anxious self wants to know the source of the noise, given that this is a new car. Can I live with this noise – yes. Do I want to – no.
Given the time constraint, I won’t be able to take the car to a dealership anytime soon.
So, what are some at-home tests that I can do to find the source of this noise?
A few things that I am going to do next – empty the glove compartment, remove the front number plate and then test for the noise.
