Here's footage of the CX-30 going through its Crash and safety testing with the Euro NCAP.

The list of tests it goes through include:
  • a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid barrier
  • an offset frontal impact test, 40% of the width of the car is striking a deformable barrier
  • a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole
  • a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door.

A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled.

Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking systems (car to car, with a pedestrian and a cyclist target), lane support and speed assist technologies and seatbelt reminders.

What's also really cool is that the CX-30 outperformed the likes of Mercedes GLB and Ford Explorer.

Unveiled earlier this year, the all-new 2020 Mazda CX-30 is raising eyebrows overseas not for its pretty styling or revolutionary Skyactiv-X engine, but for its praise-worthy safety. The Euro NCAP—essentially Europe's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)—recently finished crash testing the compact Mazda crossover and awarded it top honors.

According to Autocar, this quantifiably makes it the safest car Euro NCAP has tested during the 2018/2019 cycle and its revised, more strict procedures. In addition to a coveted five-star safety rating, the CX-30 scored a near-perfect 99 percent in Adult Occupant safety, beating out the fancier Mercedes-Benz GLB and bigger Ford Explorer, two crossovers that also received five stars but specific Adult Occupant ratings of 92 and 87 percent, respectively.
