It's being reported that the CX-30 will only come with one engine option when it arrives in the US.
https://carbuzz.com/news/mazda-cx-30-may-only-have-one-engine-option-in-the-usIn Europe, three engine options will be available, including a 2.0-liter inline-four gasoline and a 1.8-liter diesel. US engine options haven't been confirmed, but Autonews Mexico reports the CX-30 will arrive in Mexico this November with only one engine option: a SkyActiv-G 2.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque.
The 2020 Mazda CX-30 will be exported to the US and Canada from Mazda's Salamanca plant in Mexico, so it would make sense for the 2.5-liter engine to be offered in these markets as well. The 2020 Mazda3 sedan, which is built at the same plant in Salamanca, is also only offered with a 2.5-liter engine in the US.
According to Autonews Mexico, the CX-30 will be available with two trim levels including the i Sport 2WD and i Grand Touring 2WD. Yes, you read that right, there won't be an all-wheel-drive version of the 2020 Mazda CX-30 when it launches in Mexico, despite AWD being an available option in Europe on all CX-30 models. We'll have to wait and see if the AWD version will be available in the US.
