Anybody finding that their car audio turns on automatically when the car starts? If we press the audio power button once to mute the radio, it comes on again the next time the car is on. If we hold down the power button to turn the radio off, the whole console is turned off so we can’t use things such as the navigation (but it does prevent the radio from autoplaying on next ignition!). Is there a way to just stop music from autoplaying without turning the whole console off permanently?

Thanks for any insights.

Before turing the engine off, press and hold the <source button> on the steeringwheel. Or go with the <MZD controler> to the source menu and scroll all the way down and select sound off.

I can confirm, the suggested way is the way I do it - press and hold source of go to sources in the menu and select off.

This has been annoying me for months, I email Mazda about it, and they told me just to turn the volume down. But, this works. Thank you.

The problem IMO seems to be that the mute setting is not retained between start ups. The best solution I’ve found is to turn off (not just mute) by holding down the volume control for a few seconds until the screen goes black. This will be retained upon next start up. Unfortunately, all infotainment is unavailable until turning it back on. So, some people may prefer to twist the knob each time to control the volume. Annoying. I wish this behavior would be changed in a future software update. But most likely this has been in place for several generations of vehicles already. IDK.

@Mickey Ward - Welcome to CX30Talk

I use the same approach, turning off the infotainment - especially if I am going on a short journey and want to concentrate. But each journey is different, so I choose what I want at the start of every journey. It takes a moment (ok, maybe a little longer if you're setting up navigation). It's part of my routine.
