We picked up our vehicle today but unhappily it’s turned in to a rather negative experience. On driving off after the handover I noticed a clunking sound from the offside front. Having done about 3 miles in the vehicle I handed it back for the dealer to take a look at. They agreed something was amiss and gave me a temp replacement for the day so at this point my feelings are just of disappointment and the dealer has reacted appropriately (notwithstanding that the vehicle shouldn’t have passed their PDI).

Doubly unfortunately on returning the vehicle to me at home saying they’d solved the issue I took it for a quick check with the rep and the noise was still there!

They have taken it back again so watch this space. No naming and shaming as I need to give them a fair chance to make good but the wife is wondering if we have a lemon and this experience doesn’t say much for either Mazda or the dealer Quality Control. Such a shame. Watch this space and hopefully I will have a more positive report to make soon.

Thats such a shame...not the experiance you want whan buying a car.
Hopefully its just a minor problem, ...

we had a car a few years ago, we had it for 3 weeks, then when it rained and in certain light it highlighted a fault with the paint, every panel was a different shade..we refused the car ..(after contacting the dealer/manufacture/the finace company to make sure we had the right to refuse) in the end the dealer bought the car from the finace company and ordered us a replacement car. which was perfect, and the dealer threw in 2 free services... .
so just a few pointers there if you are not happy with the outcome, but im sure all will be ok.

the dealer will want it right, in Derby where i am, they are big on customer service feedback/ reviews..we have found them to go the extra mile and have used them for the past 4 car we have had. ( small family run dealership).

hope all is sorted soon.

Hi Steve, I can accept it’s just one of those things and the dealer have been fine to date. We don’t want to reject but will if we have to and that is, basically, our default position unless the issue is resolved.

I think a serious look in to the clunking and thorough check should resolve it as it isn’t a tiny sound - it’s quite pronounced when it occurs. Having said that I’m also aware that sourcing the cause of sounds can be difficult and /or the cause not always an easy fix. So we are pretty nervous about the whole thing presently.

I hope you are right about the dealer. I’m not really looking for compensation presently but I would hope they would come forward with an offer like a couple of free services. Let’s see how it pans out.

Let us know how you go on....
Just to add. The problems we had with the multi coloured car WAS NOT a Mazda....it was our first and last Hyundai. We only kept it for 12 months.. swapped it for a Mazda and not looked back . For us Mazda tick all the boxes..

That sounds very frustrating. The reason we buy New cars is to avoid those kinds of issues. Let us know what they find. I hope they are able to resolve it quickly and permanently so you can enjoy your new car.

Good news. They had the car all day today and changed out the front suspension strut etc after consultation with Mazda UK. I had a test drive and the noise didn’t appear so I’m hopeful the issue is resolved.

It will be interesting to see whether this becomes a repeated problem as more cars are sold but I sincerely hope it was a one-off.

Dealer have reacted very well to the issue and offered the first service free. I’m happy with that.

Looking forward to getting to know and enjoy the car over the next few days!
