Happy Pi Day (still in the US)! I'm obviously not new to automatic transmission but I've never owned one before haha. I miss shifting a little bit but the turbo is quite exciting. Coming from a 2013 Mini Cooper S. Was thinking of Nissan until I heard some of the 2023 Rogues are having issues with gasoline smells in the cabin. Considered Hyundai/Kia. Didn't realize my brother and his wife had a Mazda a long time ago and loved it. It's normally me in the car so I didn't need anything larger than a 30. So far I really love the interior and how quiet it is inside (very loud in the 2013 Mini). Love that it has Bose speakers. Learning all about the settings (changed vehicle lock settings today). Found some interesting info on keyless entry that I tested today. Anyways, thanks for this forum and looking forward to reading all of the posts!

I had a 2012 Mini Cooper S prior to my last car, I replaced with the CX-30. Some people say the ride in the CX-30 can be rough but it's leaps and bounds smoother than a mini with run flats. Congrats!
Haha that's so funny. LEAPS AND BOUNDS smoother than a Mini. I had run flats for so long and after I replaced them I was like "I didn't know driving my Mini could feel smooth" haha. It was also very loud in the Mini but later models weren't. I'm really loving the experience in the CX-30! Thanks, Mini twin.

I think I saw that somewhere but someone (reddit?) said it autoshifts for you if you don't shift by a certain point? Of course I'll test this out haha. Thank you!
If you leave it in full auto, and paddle shift a change, it will go back to full auto after so many seconds.

If you push shift lever to left (into manual mode) it will hold a gear until you shift into another gear.

Now it’s possible in manual mode, it may auto shift up a gear at redline to prevent catastrophic damage to engine (my 911 with PDK did this) but not sure if CX-30 does that or not.

Very interesting, thank you! I will try it out. I don't think I ever redlined in the Mini, but I would leave it in a lower gear at times to accelerate on the highway. I don't have enough experience in the CX-30 to know if I think I'll need it or not. I'm not an aggressive driver, but on the highways here I'd say I'm aggressively defensive (getting out of the way of crazy drivers - some fast, some slow, some totally not paying attention.)

Also try Sport mode for things like highway on-ramps, etc.

Might not be recommended but I turn sport mode on as soon as I hit the street. I'd probably turn it off for stop and go traffic. I know it's bad for gas mileage but I just want the boost. I also always used to drive in sport mode in my Mini. I actually don't drive a ton of miles each week so hopefully won't hurt the new car.

I came from a 2009 R56 Mini Sport. Before that, a long run of big BMW sedans. No car I've owned was perfect, but I think my CX-30 is great. Welcome to this forum!
Thank you! Yeah Team Mini! Hehe. I've been pleasantly surprised how luxurious the interior feels. I've never had a luxury brand before (I don't consider Mini luxury - in 2013 mine didn't even have a backup camera - but was also surprised at my car value at trade-in, maybe just the market) and I know Mazda doesn't have their own luxury line like Nissan, Toyota, and many others do. However, I feel like the CX-30 interior and performance is comparable to a lower end luxury model trim. I keep cars for about a decade so I did decide to get the turbo.

I've been reading quite a few posts already before joining and it's SO NICE nice to have this knowledge available. I figured out how to lock the car from a TSB someone posted on here a while back! I always touched the handle the same way but it's MUCH easier to only touch the outside part of the handle when locking. Who knew??? I was used to the physical button on my brother's Nissan. (Maybe it was in the manual and I haven't RTFM yet. Just parts.) Easier for search results imo than reddit though I've been spending a fair share of time there too. Anyways, I got caught monologuing haha. Thanks again, excited to be here!

Sport all the time won’t hurt the car, but it will keep a smile on your face!!!

Perfect. I was thinking of trying to find a Zoom Zoom (Zoom) shirt but maybe I'll look for one that says sport mode instead haha. I'm thinking maybe I'll get on the highway in a few days for an errand and test out the shifting.
