I leased a Mazda CX-30 AWD Premium trim today and used the “Noise” app on my Apple Watch to compare the noise level of my 2017 Honda CRV EXL (with newish Pirelli tires 5k miles) to my new Mazda. On the same stretch of an interstate at the same speed. The Honda results were in the 67 to 71 range while the Mazda‘s were in the 58 to 62 range. Certainly confirms what reviewers are saying. Loving my new car so far, although I enjoyed the CRV as well.

Mazda slightly crossing over into luxury territory sure is a bonus. I wonder how noise levels compare to Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc.

One of the main reasons I am looking at a CX-30 is exactly that. Having narrower tyres helps as well I guess.

I’ve not used, yet, my Apple Watch to measure the noise levels in mine car and my wife’s CX-30 but going on just listening I’d say the CX-30 is as quiet as my 2019 Lexus ES Takumi (with those noise reducing wheels). That’s saying a lot as my ES is very quiet given 93% of the underside has sound deadening material to it as well as the bulkhead and suspension towers plus the aforementioned wheels and noise reducing glass.
