Since I bought it in December, my 2021 has had a tire vibration that the dealer hasn’t been able to resolve. They’re on their fifth attempt and each time they say it’s gone, I encounter it again within a few miles. So far, they’ve replaced five out of four tires and just sent the wheels out for road force balancing. They didn’t feel any vibration, but I sure can.
Has anyone else run into this, andis there somewhere beyond wheels and tires I should be looking. For background, it’s a 1/rev vibration that starts above 70 mph.
TIA

Welcome and what model are you driving?
Awd, turbo?
What type of tires?
Could be the wheel not the tires.
Did they change placement of the wheels, like front to back?
If I recall there was a wheel bearing issue on some models, perhaps that may be it.

AWD naturally aspirated. Bridgestone Turanzas. I was guessing it’s a wheel but wouldn’t road force balancing correct for that? I wondered about a whee bearing as well, but I’m used to that following the ball passing frequency rather than the wheel rotation frequency. IDK for sure though. I’ll definitely ask about bearings.
regarding tire position, that definitely affects it. The dealer had it fixed until they rotated the tires, then it came back with a vengeance.

Sounds like a slightly out of round wheel to me.

I had this problem with a different car, where the dealer kept trying things to fix a vibration without success. Here is my advice when that happens: First try another dealer service. IF THEY cant resolve it in one try contact Mazda directly as a safety concern. They may approve things like new rims, new drive shaft etc. If that doesn't help sell the car. Seriously, this can make you insane. After all, the mechanics say there is nothing wrong, right?

That sounds like a wheel issue. Maybe.😳 At what location was the vibration being felt, front, rear, left, right? You say it was fixed then tires were rotated and it came back which may be weird but wouldn’t the vibration follow the bad wheel. Maybe not as pronounced if it were on the rear. Over torqued lugs can warp rotors but that is usually felt at braking. What speed did they balance the wheels at? You say this happens above 70 mph, so….
Last grasp for me, alignment ever checked?
Keep us up to speed, best of luck.

I have a new 2022 cx30 Turbo PP with a vibration. Problem persists even after new Michelin Defenders have been installed and road force balanced three times now. It is most noticeable on smooth pavement between 50-55 and 70-75 mph. Issue is easily masked my slightly rougher roads as the suspension transfers every single pebble the tires touch.
This definitely feels like a suspension or transmission issue in the design of the car.

Came across this when I worked in a dealership. It's quite often the tyres.

The process for finding the fault is to put different tyres on 1st (different brand) and see if that solves it, then full wheel swap.

If that's been tried and no fault found it's going to be suspension, steering rack or column.

If it was in the design of the vehicle, all would be experiencing it.
What has the dealer said about your issue?

Have to disagree. I've seen plenty of common faults come through workshops that don't affect all cars in a range. Audi instrument clusters from the MK1 TT are a prime example.

Seen plenty of design faults where not every car goes wrong, causes an issue or the driver notices. In this case its hard to know without seen the history but in 90% of the vibration issues we had, changing to a different tyre brand sorted it although it was usually caused by the driver fitting different tyres.

It appears to be enough of a problem to be a five page post here and on another forum, in addition to this thread. It’s faint enough that honestly 80+% of the owner base would never notice. I have the curse of a sensitive arse.

The dealer isn’t an option atm since it is my only vehicle and they need days to look at it with no replacement.

Tire balance and alignment I can do on my own. Checking the alignment next week but adding my case here to follow the ongong issue.

Well I hope you get it figured out.
If you are cursed with a sensitive arse, perhaps I am blessed with a non sensitive one.🤣

Just purchased a 2022 CX-30 Select. I also noticed a slight vibration that others don't seem to notice. Even passengers say it's just the road. Dealership rebalanced tires and torqued nuts, seems a little better but who knows, maybe just the way the car runs (Engine?)

Interesting, I appear to have the same thing on smooth roads. It's 'very subtle' but apparently noticeable enough to chat about. What have you decided? Going to keep the vehicle and just ignore it? Does the vibration not occur on some roads at those speeds?

I have a 22 (3) AWD and same vibration with 4 miles on odometer. Replaced tires not fixed, under warranty replacement wheel no fix. There is a problem somewhere in the driveline and NOT tires. I hope someone can figure this out because stuck thankfully with a lease only but it sucks and will most likely never buy a Mazda again

Yours is an isolated incident and not common amongst owners here.
Could be the wheels, method of balancing, or a myriad of other possibilities. Unfortunately it happens, but is not something that has been reported often.

I am sure it is isolated but frustrating it can not be fixed. Three dealerships later and almost 7 months in service departments it's defeating that the vibration still persist. It completely ruins the feel of the car and as much as I like the design and refinement it is taken away. I just attempted another road force balance yesterday at a very well-known shop in my area they confirmed the tires and wheels are spot on but felt the vibration and said that there must be something that is defective somewhere in the driveline

I feel your pain. Crawl under the car and count how many balancing weights total are on the rims. With new tires and rebalancing, some techs only add and add more weights to the rims and never start fresh. Have all weights removed and the glues cleaned off and then re-balance. I once discovered I had 50, yes 50 weights on my rims. It solved the problem and rebalancing only required 4-5 weights total. I learned it from a high school auto-shop teacher. Additionally, have the car put up and watch the tires spin, looking for run-out, any imperfect rotation. Ask to see for yourself. Look hard at each tire. You might have a hard time finding a place that will let you do this, but another time I was able to catch a dealer who claimed the tires were fine but I took video and sent it to the general manager and lo and behold another set of tires was ok'd.
