I'm a big fan of larger diameter tires on the CX-30. It helps fill the enormous gap and every little bit of gap reduction is a visual improvement. I also like a little more ground clearance and being up just a bit higher when driving.

The best option for maximizing diameter without rubbing with the DWS 06+ would be the 235/55 at 28.2". This would be a good fit on an 18x8.5 +45.

If you don't mind a little rub and/or heating up the wheel well plastic with a heat gun to reform it just a tad, you could go with the 245/55 at 28.6". If you wanted this tire on an 18x8.5, I'd suggest a +38 to +40 offset for that wheel. Any higher and you're running into issues with the tire rubbing the suspension in the rear. +38 would be the safest bet.
I’ll have to dig in to all of that! Maybe a baby step, and look at the 245/50 you suggested earlier. Wheel-wise, would look at 8” +40, or 8.5” +38…following what has been discussed.

I know this is a subject that has been beaten to death however I still can't wrap my head around it. I currently have the stock rims, 18*7 with an offset of 45mm running 235/55 tires. No rubbing, no issues. I am looking at rims that are 18*8 with an offset of 35mm with Wildpeak 235/60. Does this mean the rims and tires will poke out about 10mm further than stock, and if so, will that keep the tires from rubbing?

The 18x8 +35 wheels will move the wheel's outer rim edge 22.7 mm further away from the vehicle's stock placement. 22.7 is derived from the extra width of the wheel plus the additional offset. 1 extra inch is 25.4 mm. Divide 25.4 by 2 because half of the extra width will be on the inside of the wheel and half will be on the outside of the wheel. This equals 12.7 mm. Then add 10mm from the offset change and we come to 22.7 mm total.

This will not prevent rub at this size. Small adjustments with the offset may dodge rub in only the rarest cases. This size is not one of those cases. The tire's hypotenuse is the dominating factor whether the tire will rub or not.

You could attempt to reshape the wheel well plastic by using a heat gun to gain a few mm of clearance but no guarantees it will clear. I plan on doing this as soon as the temps rise, late April or early May.

FWIW, 18x8+35 is great fitment, near absolute flush.
