Hello there, I am experiencing an issue where the rear trunk won't open automatically from inside the car using the button near the steering wheel. I've tried while in park and with & without the parking break. All it does now is like a deep beep and dosent open. It works fine outside the car using the fob. Any ideas?

I have not yet figured out the bloody rules for when that damned button will actually open the hatch, other than when the car is switched off. I find that if I have the car running, even in park and with the parking brake on, only the fob or the rear switch will open it. Very stupid design.

Didn't know that too. Tried to figure it out but couldn't find the solution. Thanks for helping me out. :)

Just pulled this out of my PDF manual.
don’t know if you’ve already read the same but, if not, it might help.

Opening the liftgate
If the vehicle has satisfied all the
following operation conditions, the
power liftgate can be opened using the
power function.
x All doors and the liftgate are
unlocked.
x The vehicle is stopped.
x (Manual transmission)
The ignition is switched to a position
other than ON, or when the parking
brake is applied with the shift lever in
N and the ignition switched ON.
x (Automatic transmission)
The ignition is switched to a position
other than ON, or the selector lever
is in P with the ignition switched ON.
Closing the liftgate
x The vehicle is stopped.
x (Manual transmission)
The ignition is switched to a position
other than ON, or when the parking
brake is applied with the shift lever in
N and the ignition switched ON.
x (Automatic transmission)
The ignition is switched to a position
other than ON, or the selector lever
is in P with the ignition switched ON.
NOTE
x (Manual transmission)
If the vehicle moves with the shift lever
shifted to a position other than N
while the liftgate is opening/closing
electrically, the liftgate moves as
follows:
While opening electrically
The buzzer is activated, and the
liftgate moves in the reverse direction
automatically and closes. When the
shift lever is shifted to N and the
parking brake is applied, you can
resume the power liftgate operation
using the switches.
While closing electrically
The buzzer is activated, but the liftgate
continues closing.
x (Automatic transmission)
If the vehicle moves with the selector
lever shifted to a position other than P
while the liftgate is opening/closing
electrically, the liftgate moves as
follows:
While opening electrically
The buzzer is activated, and the
liftgate moves in the reverse direction
automatically and closes. When the
selector lever is shifted to P, you can
resume the power liftgate operation
using the switches.
While closing electrically
The buzzer is activated, but the liftgate
continues closing.
Operation from the driver's seat (To
open/close)
Press the power liftgate switch for
about 1 second or longer while the
liftgate is in the fully closed/open
position. The hazard warning lights
flash twice and the liftgate opens/
closes fully after a sound is activated.
Operation from outside (To open)
Press the electric liftgate opener on the
liftgate. The hazard warning lights flash
twice and the liftgate opens
automatically after the beep sound is
heard.
(With the advanced keyless function)
A locked liftgate can also be opened
while the key is being carried.
Operation from outside (To close)
Press the power liftgate close switch
while the liftgate is fully opened. The
hazard warning lights flash twice and
the liftgate closes automatically after
the beep sound is heard.

I just bought my 2021 CX-30 Preferred Version yesterday. It does NOT have a power liftgate. Does that mean that it also does NOT have a trunk release button inside the car? If it does, WHERE is it?? Thanks in advance.

My CX30 also does not has power liftgate and it is released with central locking. Once locks are open, someone needs to push the button on the trunk handle and pull up manually

Thanks for the response. I just found the 1st defect with my brand new car. I didn't even THINK about asking because I ASSumed that a $30,000 car would have a simple inside trunk release button like my $15,000 car does.

Happy I found this thread. I had this issue when dropping someone off at the airport last week. I had to turn off my engine to open the hatch and thought my car was being dumb.

9 out of 10 times it’s the operator not the machine that’s at fault…lol.
