I have A Question without Definitive Answer from CX-30 Forum.
I am just ruminating on this topic again.
This is about Transmission Fluild DRAIN & FILL.
So this is my procedure to see if you approve and then comes the punch line question.
PROCEDURE
1. Park the car on level ground and turn off engine
2. Wait for 30 min to an hour for the fluid to cool to warm.
3. Remove dip stick (for ventilation) & Drain Bolt for draining
4. Leave to drain completely for 2 - 3 hours.
5. Wait for the drained fluid to reach room temperature (fully contracted)
6. Pour fluid into measuring cup/bottle to know the exact drained amount
7. Tightening drain bolt to proper torque then fill up the exact mount of drained out fluid
QUESTION
Since I have the drained fluid sitting in the bucket for 2- 3 hours to reach room temperature, the fluid would be in the normal contracted stage (Tranny Fluid expands when hot) which is similar to the new tranny fluid in the bottles. After measuring the amount of drained room temperature fluid, I would fill up the exact amount of new fluid.
Why is it that people keep saying you would need to check fluid level via
1. Drive the car for 5 - 10 minutes
2. Park at level ground
3. Leave engine on
4. Making sure Pan temperature is around 50°C
5. Check Level of dip stick.
Why do we have to do this when you fill the exact amount you drained out.
Thank you for your input
