I drove 2,800 miles on January 1, 2025.(brand new vehicle)

Last week, when I tried to take the vehicle to work in the morning, it wouldn’t start. I called Roadside Assistance to jump the battery, and I also asked a technician to check the battery's remaining capacity, which turned out to be a surprising 11%. I use a dashcam, and I've never experienced this issue with any of my vehicles or those of my friends. I'm curious to see how the manufacturers will respond to this problem.

My previous Toyota was a chronic battery-failing nightmare for the 2 years & 10K total miles that I kept it (battery replaced by Toyota 3 times). Original equipment (factory) batteries are bare minimum sadly, & any vehicle sitting on dealership lot for any period of time waiting to be purchased just makes them worse. Automakers are using barely adequate batteries IMO for tech-bloated vehicles with more passive draw than ever - & adding aftermarket equipment draw loads on top of that is just a problem waiting to happen. It's all about cutting costs to maximize profit margins. Factory tires are usually the same thing (cheapest to equip). Buy a quality 650-680CCA battery to replace the weak-sauce factory one if you want to avoid the headaches & surprises of a dead factory battery. I proactively replaced my Mazda battery just before the 2 year mark, even though it hadn't given me any problems up until then (I have no aftermarket electronics installed, & my vehicle wasn't on the dealership lot for more than a day or two before I purchased mine back in early 2022 - so no "Lot Rot").

I've heard from more than one source that the OEM Mazda batteries have minimum specs compared to the most prominant battery brands in the USA. That said, a few years ago my wife's 2014 Mazda 3 had a total battery failure at 5 years age and I replaced it. I think 5 years was a pretty good life. Now my 2021 CX-30 has displayed "battery low" warnings on the dash a few times over the past year or so. At first it was only when I sat in a parking lot listening to the radio with the motor off for about 15 minutes or so. Now today I had the "battery low" warning first thing this morning when I started the motor. Battrry is almost 5 years old. Over the past week, I had driven down to Portland, OR and back, an over 600 miles round trip, so the car wasn't just sitting idle. So--- I'm getting a new battery very soon, an AGM.

I changed the battery recently, OEM didn't fit, I had to go to my Mazda Agent to get it replaced. I didn't have any warning on the dash, but the engine had hard time to get started. The battery lacked power obviously after a short period of being stationary.
My car at that time was 4 YO and 91 000 km (56 544 Miles)

I actually went to my cx30 turbo last month and it would not start. Out of nowhere.

Oem batteries in general from my experience at least aren’t good.

I went to my local parts store and bought a AGM battery 30 mins later. Put that in, got rid of the pos oem battery.

Not cheap but the battery is the fairly important I’d say hahahah so it’s worth it.
