I'm not a driving enthusiast. It's always been just something necessary to get from A to B, but I'm unexpectedly surprised by this car. It is such a pleasure to drive that I'm finding myself searching for reasons to take it out on the road. A totally different feel from my previous 2018 Mazda3 Sport, which wasn't bad, and the changes seem all for the better. The driver's seat is much much more comfortable and the higher position is part of it too, instrument panel clearer and easier to use, sound improved and most importantly, it seems to just quietly float over the road. I've never had a car that was anywhere near this enjoyable to drive (last 4 cars, Mazda3 Sport, Kia Forte, Honda HRV and Mazda3 Sport). Is it the 18" vs 16" tires, the superb interior, the better info display, the quieter ride? Do cars get this much better in two years? Am I overreacting because it's a new car vs a car two year old? Don't think so (and I hope not) but I suppose it could be.

You are not imagining things, the CX-30 has been reengineered to balance comfort, performance, efficiency and utility - even beyond its 2019 Mazda 3 roots. Dave Coleman from Mazda explains in his guest appearance on the MotoMan YouTube channel. Some things are not improved components, per se, but using smarter software to coordinate steering, power train and braking to provide a better experience.

Really good interview/video. No wonder it drives so well.

I researched new cars for my wife and this was my choice for her. She was coming from a base Civic and wanted a Prius but I pushed her into the CX-30. She has always said that she couldn't care less about how a car drives as long as it gets her from A to B and is the right color. Me on the other hand...I like a car with personality and sportiness. I knew that I would be driving what ever she got so the choice was as much for me as her. Maybe a tad more.
For someone who always said she couldn't care less about what she drove, she loves driving this thing.:p
