Do you need the extra room in the 50. How many people will usually be in the car?

 

So the one of the main reason to go for the cx50 is exactly the extra space. I like doing long trips and begin comfy helps a lot.

I mostly sleep in hotels, but I had my fair share of nights in the car. With the seat folded the cx50 seems super spacious, perfect for national parks

 

If you can, go for a CX-5. Better suspension, much better build quality since it's made in Japan.

 

I'd only buy the CX-30 if I regularly had passengers in the back.

 

I test drove both and bought the CX30. It has a much smoother ride and handles a lot better. Much better pickup from stop light. But if you are going to use the back seat, the CX30 will be disappointing. There is no leg room. I am only 5'9" and I have the driver's seat all the way back. My wife rides with her seat all the way back. Only enough leg room for children if that.

 

CX-50 is too large, boxy & clunky-looking for my taste. The US plant that produces both the CX-50 & Corolla Cross also seem to have more build quality issues for both vehicles, for whatever reason. I would choose a CX-30 (or CX-5) over a CX-50 any day.

 

Ciao everybody from Milan, Italy. My husband drives as company car a CX-5, we're also looking for an own CX30. CX-5 looks however very fine
