How is a paint chip fixed

So, the CX-30 bought a few weeks ago, I noticed a chip and other smaller missing paint specks on the right rear quarter panel. To make a story short, after waxing it first time, I noticed them. The day I bought the car it was raining cats and dogs. Obviously I wouldn’t have seen them, especially since you have to look hard and close for the smaller ones, but the large on is about the size of a bigger sesame seed. That’s the one in the picture.

The saleslady hasn’t gotten back to replying to my text from Saturday. I asked if they would fix them or see what they need to do. What do they need to do? Is a simple paint pen all it needs?

maybe they will address them, but then again they have no obligation to do so. it could also be a paint defect, but proving that will be beyond your ability to do so. who knows what really happened. fixing that correctly will require a repaint, fixing it to be less obvious will require a paint pen, but in the end, both will still be noticeable. i wouldn't repaint a panel for a chip just because the fix will ruin the factory paint. i've seen too many mismatched panels in my lifetime. it's not my vehicle, but i would simply live with it. why? by the time it's a year old, and if you drive it rather than use it as a driveway trophy, your front end will have so many chips and scratches that the ones on the rear quarter will be a distant memory.

I messaged the salesperson who actually has been nice and sent her the picture. For now she says she will show her manager and tell me how they will help. I put red dots on the s all ones that don’t show up in a picture. You’re right about how it will eventually have nicks and chips from my own driving. If I ever buy a car again, likely will, I don’t care what I look like, I’m taking a magnifying glass and checking everything over.

well that looks worse than i imagined. push hard for a fix. sadly, if a respray is required, which i think is best, they'll most likely blend it over to the adjacent panels. if it's done right, then it should last a lifetime, if not, then you'll be dealing with the possibility of an obvious repair. best of luck. it's a shame the vehicle is new and you're having to deal with that.
Thanks

I have used a good detailer for paint correction. Also a paintless dent repair shop who goes to dealers lots to correct the conditions your images show. Dr. color chip offers a kit at a reasonable price that includes all you need, including the exact paint color of your vehicle. It is not too difficult to use, if you take your time, follow the directions, it can turn out nicely.
Thanks

If anyone was interested, the Mazda dealership is going to give me a loaner car in September while they “touch it up.” It likely will be the folks in the service department or the detailing staff doing it. So, I can guess it will be paint pen fixed, but I have no idea.

Still waiting for my car to be finished. Today is 3 weeks that it has been at the dealership auto body shop. I called on Monday and was told they are waiting on paint or something like that. So I will continue driving the loaner they provided.

The car was finished and I picked it up today. She said they replaced the whole panel and painted it. It looks fine. I still want to look more closely when the rain ends.

Probably going to need to take it back. I started hearing what sounds like a rattling screw or something when driving on uneven roads. It’s coming from the panel area where they repainted. SMH. I’m done.
