I hard wired my radar detector and found that all the fuses appear to be constant, none of the circuits turn off with the car. So must remember to turn it on and off. I had a dash cam but not going to install unless I can find an easy fix. Cheers
That may be a good solution. But it would be nicer to tap into the fuse that powers those usbs rather than into the usb itself. Routing the wire to the internal fuses box is also easier. But, I couldn't locate that fuse in the compartment, seems as an under the hood fuse. But, maybe other fuses in the car itself are powered off after some time as that usbs (possible candidates: F9 or F10 - power windows, F11 - power seat, F18 reverse light....) worth checking. I'll try and test this hypothesis.

any updates on this harness?Apologies for raising this old thread. I found a switched 12v connection in the center console. Loses power a few seconds after the car turns off. The connection is for the Navigation/USB module. I'm not an electrician so I don't know loads and stuff, but it should work for anything minor. In the process of creating a small plug and play harness. Don't want to void my lease. Will update once the harness is done

Hi, just wanted to ask how the OBD2 board power adaptor worked for you? Did you manage to get parking mode working with it?Wanted to thank someone here (forgot who now) who mentioned using the ODBII port for power for dashcams. I've ordered this and it's got to be much easier than removing pillar trim, mirror housings and tapping into wires in tight spots. I'm also attempting to use this with an ODBII splitter so I can add another device (for tracking my kid's driving style for a while)

No this did not work for me. It kept the power on way too long after the key was turned off for my comfort level. I ended up running a 15' long USB cable from the dashcam to the center console - tucking it in all along the way. It turns off when key is off.Hi, just wanted to ask how the OBD2 board power adaptor worked for you? Did you manage to get parking mode working with it?
May I ask if you had success with the OBD2 port power suggestion? Did that manage to activate parking mode for you?New member here, just got my 2022 CX-30 GS last week. I bought a Thinkware 2ch dashcam and was just reading upon everyone's experiences with dashcam installations. and realized there was an OBD cable that Thinkware sells that allows me to have parking mode without hardwiring, will go that route in the next week or two. Thank you all for the information put forth in this thread!
