Hi all, new to the forum ! Bought a new CX30 last Dec and as it seems to be the case it comes with the dreaded tyre solution repair ! ( non Bose ) After researching Mazda there is no way I was forking out £650 for their space saver and plastic surround so I purchased a space saver from Spare Wheel City, bit of ply which I cut to size and then varnished and then adapted original plastic surround so the wheel fits snuggly inside and is secured down using fixing hole in wheel space. I already had a scissor jack and wheel brace, the original carpeted boot mat fits perfectly on top ! Whole job done for less than £150 !

I'm interested in getting one for my car with fitted 18" wheels.
Couple of questions
Did you get the 17" version?
What's the diameter of the space saver? To compare it to my original which is about 27"
How did you cut the plastic surround? Mine has the Bose amp fitted and will need to cut quite a bit out.
Thanks in advance.

Looks like you need an 18" rim to accommodate the Bose sub. The tyre size depends on your preference - chances are you will never need to use it ! A space saver will allow you to keep the shelf height where it was. With the standard tyre with 2 inch extra height the edges of the shelf will sag or need raised support.j
