North America finally gets the Hybrid and the better-looking front end.

All the variations of the new "Sport Grade" Hybrid-only Cross trims (S, SE and XSE) will have the different front fascia & certain styling elements. There will also be hybrid 2023 versions of the regular LE/XLE trims with the regular US/NA market "pig-face" grill/styling that was introduced for 2022 as ICE only.

I imagine that a good hybrid version of the CX-30 would sell well also, but Mazda seems to be late to the game - though their burgeoning partnership & technology sharing with Toyota may speed things up in the coming years.

not the Cross but another Toyota product, this announcement not a surprise to me

“Effective following the 2022 model year, Toyota will discontinue sales of the CH-R in the U.S. and Canada,” the automaker revealed in a statement to Motor Trend. “With the recent introduction of the Corolla Cross and Corolla Cross Hybrid, two great products that offer a great combination of utility and efficiency, and the best-selling RAV4, we are providing multiple options for compact SUV buyers.”

Interesting, I didn't even realise they sold the CHR in the States - its shows the regional differences that still exist in markets and the challenge that Mazda has in selling a cars that are 'world' cars.
The CHR is a real strong seller here but its very much sold on style and only comes in hybrid form. I didn't consider it when looking at the CX30, although I drove the RAV which I wanted to like but it was just too soft.

Yeah, I saw the U.S. market doom of the C-HR coming (& the authentic Yaris hatch back in 2018, & rebadged Mazda2 version Yaris after that), just like the CX-3 was doomed here shortly after the CX-30 hit. Sadly, anything smaller than a Corolla/Corolla-Cross or CX-30/Mazda3 doesn't seem to fare well here in the U.S./N.A. market.

This was my post 6 months ago…knew I was right!

“This will sell more than the CX-30 for sure having the Toyota badge coupled with its track record for reliability and the styling is conservative way better than the dud CH-R not to mention with the available AWD that CH-R was sorely lacking. won’t be surprised if eventually CH-R is discontinued down the road same fate as what happened to CX-3 soon as CX-30 cannibalized its sales. CX-3 was on the old smaller platform while CX-30 was on the newer platform so Toyota implementing the same strategy here with the Corolla Cross! Am sure it’s going to be a hit for them…”

I find it very generic looking though.
Not bad interior, but exterior very vanilla.

A lot of people will still mindlessly buy anything with a Toyota badge, even though Toyota is coasting along on an outdated reputation for quality these days (just like Honda). The 2022 Corolla Cross XLE AWD was more expensive than my 2022 CX-30 CE, but still managed to look & feel like a budget vehicle that should cost $5-10K less than it did.

Toyota has a lot to learn about designing & implementing tasteful, sporty & premium-looking exhaust systems. Seems like lazy/cheap design philosophy on their part. See comparison pics below. :D
