a wax wears off and you need to re apply it and is not nearly as durable as a ceramic coating.
a ceramic coating is a chemical process that bonds with the clear coat as basically a glass layer over the clear coat and if taken care of correctly will last 3 years and is scratch resistant to minor surface scratches and is extremely hydrophobic and makes washing the paint work much easier as things such as bird droppings and bugs don't stick as well as it resists chemical damages to the paint as well as environmental i.e bird droppings damaging the paint finish and paint fadeing. Tho even tho it is very durable you still have to do normal maintenance which is washing your vehicle via two bucket wash method and correct car shampoo and NO DISH SOAP SHOULD NEVER BE USED ON AUTOMOTIVE PAINT but rather a ph nuteral car shampoo like MR PINK by chemical guys and a microfiber wash mitt.

A wax is not chemical resistant and only sits on the surface unlike the ceramic coating which is very hard to remove and would require a duel action polisher and compound as it is a permanent product and only a trained professional should install it as it requires prep work before even applying it.

i hope this helps you out and if you have any other detailing questions etc please ask :)

Showing off my two Mazdas while shamelessly plugging my anime-style project.

I'm due to upgrade in about two years time.. and my question to ya regards to color which I'm torn currently between the deep crystal blue and poly metal grey.. if you got to pick a color again and only those two which would it be and why ? I currently have sonic silver because it looks sharp to me and it's a lease so that n bot stuck with it past 3 years. I would also ceramic coat my next vehicle again as my current one is and came with a guarantee warranty on the paint against environmental damage to the paint from salt , Bird droppings etc for 4 years.

For me, I felt like I needed this. Though it's garage kept in Manhattan and rarely driven (2x a month to CT), there is still alot of bird poop, dust and regular grime that accumulates on the car. I want to prevent any type long term degradation of my paint / clear coat as much as possible.

There are also plenty of reputable installers of this because I live in NYC.
